Barbounia Loses Chef, Forges Ahead

More problems for the emerging restaurant row along Park Avenue South. Per today's Page Six:

Shortly before they were scheduled to hold a series of pre-opening VIP dinners, chef Matthew Akarino and his crew walked out of Barbounia, the Greek restaurant due to open this month in the Park Avenue South space that once housed Patria. A rep for the restaurant confirmed the chef had left, but insisted the parting was mutual. The explanation: "I think they wanted different things." Akarino, formerly a sous chef at Per Se, could not be reached, but the Barbounia rep says they still plan to open in two weeks. Anyone know how to bake spanako pita?
