Via a well-placed tipster, the following note appeared in our inbox this AM:
Dear valued customers:
After a brief but magical run, Yumcha will be closing its doors Sunday, October 9th.
We would like to thank all of our loyal guests who supported us. Please stop by and see us for a toast before we go.
As sad as we are to see Yumcha close, we look forward to bright things in the future.
To all, thank you.
All Yumcha employees
Clearly, the attempt to recover from the loss of Chef Angelo Sosa (to Steven Starr) fell short. It’s a shame, really, to see all that well-conceived design – in the kitchen and in front – go to waste. One can't help but thinking there's another chapter here, in which a new owner comes in at Yumcha, changes nothing except the name and the publicist and has another go at it. In the meantime, if you're curious to know what kind of food you'll find at Morimoto, these reviews may be of interest.
