Italian restaurant Cucina Ciano, which owner Stratis Morfogen relocated to the Upper East Side last November, is currently closed, with the windows papered over. Meanwhile, the team is battling the landlord in court today over the $150,000 required to bring the basement up to legal occupancy standards. "It's been an ongoing fight with the landlord where he does not want to correct the matter," a representative tells Eater. But while the two duke it out in court, the space is on the market. A sign posted in the restaurant's window outlines the terms of the lease, which include $185,000 in key money for the space and the equipment that remains. Another sign directs employees to a place where they can collect their belongings, which does not bode well for the ultimate fate of the restaurant.
