It's been over a year since work began on Aldo Sohm Wine Bar, the Le Bernardin spinoff helmed by the four-star restaurant's acclaimed sommelier, Aldo Sohm in partnership with Eric Ripert and Maguy Le Coze . But now the new place, which is the first expansion offshoot of Le Bern in its 28 years of existence, is finally coming close to completion. A representative tells Eater that the bar, which is located in the former Palio space near Le Bernardin, should open sometime in the fall, and a glimpse through the glass doors shows lights on, knick knacks on shelves, and furniture just waiting to be arranged.
Besides this first floor lounge area, Aldo Sohm Wine Bar also includes a 200-seat private dining room on the second floor. Last fall Ripert told the Daily Meal that he planned to serve a small menu of "very simple" food to complement the wine. Stay tuned for an opening date. Update: A representative sends word that the private dining room will be separate entity, not a part of the wine bar.
