After four months of serving a $40 set menu at Frankies 457, Danny Bowien is bringing his hit Mission Chinese Food pop-up to Manhattan this next weekend. The chef tweets: "mission Chinese food manhattan pop up starts sunday 07/20, and every following Sunday through August... More. Details. Soon.!" No word yet on where it will be, but expect the same format as the Brooklyn pop-up: a whole lot of kung pao pastrami, thrice-cooked bacon, salt cod fried rice, and more for $40 a head. In the meantime, the pop-up is still going strong in Brooklyn through the end of August, and even offering takeout now. And perhaps this latest development means Bowien really is getting close to reopening a permanent location in Manhattan. Stay tuned.
Update: Bowien issues a correction: "pop up starts Sunday 7/27.... stay tuned."
