Less than 72 hours after Crumbs Bake Shop abruptly shuttered all of its locations, the chain is getting close to signing a deal that will bring it back from the dead. An investor group that includes the Fischer Family and Marcus Lemonis, the host of CNBC's The Profit, tells CNBC that it plans to provide the chain with financing and hopes to ultimately buy it. Lemonis will incorporate Crumbs with several of his other holdings, including Sweet Pete's Candy, a "healthy" candy chain with extensive vegan and gluten-free offerings. No word yet on whether this means this will increase the giant cupcake options for the gluten-free and vegan sets. No word either on how soon all those darkened cupcake shops will reopen, but since the announcement the chain's stock has already skyrocketed 950 percent.
