Steve Cuozzo writes a follow-up to his Twitter debate with Pete Wells yesterday, over whether the restaurant scene is being destroyed by rent hikes. He argues that, "thanks to an awkward, gaping hole in the Times story," we don't actually know how much Union Square Cafe's rent is now, only what it was when it started. And the restaurant's landlord tells Cuozzo, "I thought Union Square Cafe was gone even before negotiation started. I couldn't even get them to give me a number at which they'd renew," which leads him to believe that the move isn't really about rent after all. [NYP]
