Tonight, some of the country's best chefs and restaurant professionals will gather at Lincoln Center for the James Beard Awards. It's the Oscars of the food world, and like any big deal awards ceremony, there will be surprise victories, crushing defeats, and a lot of hungover people the next day. As a lead up to the event tonight, Eater will be running some preliminary polls for the categories in which New Yorkers figure heavily, asking readers who should win
Up first is the Best Chef NYC category, which features five bona fide stars of the New York dining scene: April Bloomfield (The Spotted Pig, The Breslin, The John Dory Oyster Bar), Wylie Dufresne (wd~50, Alder), Mark Ladner, (Del Posto), Jonathan Waxman (Barbuto), and Michael White (Osteria Morini, Marea, Ai Fiori, Nicoletta). Place your vote below for the chef that you think deserves that shiny gold medal.
