Monday morning bummer: The Pink Pony on Ludlow Street is doneski. The phone number has been disconnected and Bowery Boogie notes that the shutters have been down for the last few weeks.
The Pink Pony was never a culinary destination, but it was a beloved hangout of hipsters both young and old. The food and drinks were affordable, the space was comfortable, and the owners were fine with people sitting and just drinking, or lingering over coffee. The Pink Pony had a brush with death two years ago, when owner Lucien Bahaj said that he was going to close the restaurant because he subleased the space from Max Fish next door, which was also planning to close. Max Fish worked out a deal with the landlord, and both places kept chugging along.
No word yet on why exactly The Pink Pony closed, or whether another restaurateur is moving in now.
