Eamon Rockey, the GM and partner of Scandinavian sensation Aska, has left the restaurant to pursue a new project with "one of the most passionate chefs in the city," Rockey tells Eater. Rockey, a vet of Atera (and its earlier iteration Compose), brought complicated, fermented, and infused drinks to the bar and tasting menu-only restaurant, which is helmed by chef Fredrik Berselius and located within Kinfolk Studios on Wythe Ave. He says in a statement:
Spending the better part of the last year opening Aska has been one of the most valuable experiences of my career and I'm greatly looking forward to watching it continue to grow. Aska's team is one of the strongest I've ever been a part of and for that reason, I'm confident of their continued success as I begin work on a new project. No word yet on what his new project is, but it is set to debut later this year. As for Aska, their longtime beverage director Shiraz Noor, who worked with Rockey at Eleven Madison Park and was recently at Blue Hill Stone Barns, has taken over as General Manager.
