Urban Space, the organization that operates Dekalb Market, is opening another outdoor dining and retail project in the Meatpacking District on September 1. Company director Eldon Scott tells Eater:
It's going to be part food and part fashion. We'll be creating a little seating area, and we're going to be doing a mixology bar, with juices and non-alcoholic cocktails. So, the whole idea is to create a little oasis for those that want to hang out in the Meatpacking, but don't want to go to a bar or beer garden.
The vendor applications are still rolling in, but so far Asia Dog, Steve's Ice Cream, Red Hook Lobster Pound, Mayhem & Stour, and Mexicue are all on board. The market will be open from 11 a.m. till around 8 p.m., every day through the end of the year.
The space sits directly across the street from the Standard hotel on the corner of Washington Street and West 13th Street. Scott also notes that his team is currently scoping out new sites for the Dekalb Market, which is going to move from its current location this fall. Expect an announcement about that in the next few weeks.
