Status: Opening Tonight
Tonight, Brooklyn-based chef/restaurateur duo Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo will open their very first Spanish project, Francesca, in the Lower East Side space that housed their casual Italian restaurant Frankies 17. It was a quick turnaround — Frankies closed earlier this week — but the menu and overall concept here are completely different. With chef Ryan Bartlow, formerly of Frankies 570 and Michelin three-star restaurant Akelarre in Spain, the Franks created a menu of Spanish small plates that includes traditional Basque pintxos, salads, cheeses, shaved hams, and bar snacks. There are also a handful of small composed plates like aged beef tartare and chilled octopus, and larger fish and meat dishes, including a roasted sirloin, served cold.
That drinks menu has one Spanish cider, several sherries and sherry cocktails, and a few local and imported beers. The wine list draws from Spain, France, and Italy. As for the space, expect pretty much exactly the same laid-back, somewhat rustic feel of Frankies 17. Check out the full food and beverage menus below.
