Sceney Bryant Park sushi restaurant Koi once sought to expand downtown by taking over the Salvation Army Building in the hopes of becoming yet another addition to the New Bowery. But tension between the restaurant group and the local community board led them to drop all plans for the East Village and re-sign their Midtown lease.
Fast forward two years and the owners are looking downtown once again. USA Today reports that a new location of Koi will open in the troubled Trump Soho condotel in the space once occupied by shuttered Miami import Quattro. Seems about as good of a fit as another Nello.
