All this fall, Dumbo restaurant Bubby's has been hosting a series of special themed dinners as part of their Fall Dinner Symposium series. And out of all the dinners on the schedule, the one coming up on Wednesday sounds the most formidable.
With the help of Andrew Beahrs, the author of "Twain’s Feast: In Search of America’s Lost Foods in the Footsteps of Samuel Clemens" the restaurant will attempt to create a feast of all of Mark Twain's favorite American foods. They explain, "Twain dreamed of an American meal with more than eighty courses, including wild turkey, baked apples, oysters in every manner, succotash, porterhouse steak and hoe-cakes, Southern style. This feast will not offer every dish on the list (terrapin is no longer available) but those in attendance will experience an epic journey through the history of American food and the mind of an American genius."
Tickets are $100 here, and if the menu below is any clue—it includes buttermilk in a pitcher, seven seafood dishes, and six meat dishes—epic is indeed the right word.
