Well here's a little surprise reward for those willing to get heatstroke tomorrow to attend the Yankees game: turkey and meatball sandwiches from Rich Torrisi and Mario Carbone of Torrisi Italian Specialties. In a curveball this morning, the pair and partner Jeff Zalaznick announce they're opening a location of their upcoming Nolita sandwich shop Parm in the Great Hall of Yankee Stadium. The new stand will open with just two options, turkey and a brand new meatball parm sandwich, and will most likely serve well over their normal output of 200 - 300 sandwiches a day. The stadium already offers food from the likes of Dylan's Candy Bar, Lobel's of New York, Brother Jimmy's, NYY Steak, and more, but this addition more closely elevates it to Citi Field's level of dining.
The Manhattan location of Parm, which will have full lunch and dinner menus, 35 seats, and cocktails, should open late summer/early fall. In September, the team will once again open a stand for the San Gennaro Festival.
