Crazily popular two year-old East Village ramen restaurant Ippudo, the only stateside location of a famed Japanese chain, already contends with the best noodle joints of the East Village, including Momofuku Noodle Bar, Minca, Rai Rai Ken, and Setagaya, and is the only restaurant in the area with daily lines and consistent multi-hour waits. Now it's preparing to take on the lauded noodle joints of Midtown.
On Friday night, word of expansion came over the twitter and a call to the restaurant this morning confirms that Ippudo II is indeed coming soon. The restaurant rep said she couldn't confirm the address because the deal is still in the works, but it will definitely be in Midtown West. One can only hope this will somewhat alleviate the line at the East Village location, as Shake Shack expansion did for the Madison Park Shack.
