It's not entirely fair to analyze all Dept. of Health scores in terms of letter grades because the point system changed slightly when the new inspection guidelines were implemented. So a restaurant that received 16 points back in April wouldn't necessarily receive a B grade today. The system has been tweaked. That said, a recent post on Eye Heart New York that includes a wide range of analysis on all kinds of scores is still worth perusing. They chart the distribution of scores, show how the boroughs fare against one another, rank cuisines in terms of best and worst scores, and offer further insights. Bottom line: Asian restaurants fare the worst. But who really wants Peking Duck at a place that scored an A anyway?
