Over a year after the Brooklyn Italian restaurant Lunetta closed its failed attempt on the island—It closed just a year and a half after opening and replacing neighborhood spot Mayrose—a restaurateur has finally signed a lease on the grand space on 21st and Broadway. Perhaps the new tenant, Brio's Damien Scoditti, will have better luck.
Scoditti, whose father owns Upper East Side spots Brio, and Brio Forno (and once owned the shuttered Brio 89), has said this Flatiron restaurant will be "hipper, younger" than its uptown sisters but will serve similar items from Brio's executive chef, Marco Carbone. Expect pizza, pasta, and Southern Italian fare.
