According to a report from The Miami New Times, chef Willis Loughhead is the new toque in charge of the food operations at the Plaza Hotel. The seasoned hotel chef—his last two stints were at Table 8 at the Cooper Square Hotel and Country at the Carleton—confirms that he started two weeks ago and that everything will be "in full operational mode sometime in May of this year." Since the Oak Room is already set up and in the hands of chef Eric Hara, one can assume he means the long awaited reopening of the hotel's showpiece restaurant Palm Court, now shuttered for 15 months. Todd English's mega food court is also expected to make its debut this spring, so expect some buzz around the famed condotel in the coming months.
