FIDI— Last weekend, a new restaurant called 1834 Bar & Burger opened in the old Perle space (it has the same owners). Touted as "the first real sports bar", the restaurant has 20 flat screen TVs and a serious (scary?) burger menu. Among the offerings are a ten pound burger for $75 (yes, there will be an eating competition), a deep-fried burger, served with gravy and bacon, the Roadhouse, a burger served with grilled Louisiana sausage on top, and a $5 burger and a beer happy hour special. The restaurant is purportedly named for the year the burger was first introduced to the Financial District. The menu is by Diane DiMeo, a winner of the Food Network show Chopped. [EaterWire]

THE HAMPTONS— Curbed Hamptons interviews a co-owner of Bay Burger in Sag Harbor to find out what it's like to run a seasonal restaurant. The downside: "we make all of our money in about 12 weeks and the rest of the year is trying to stretch that money." The upside: "Last winter we spent a month in New Orleans in this great little cottage in the French Quarter. This winter we spent a month traveling through Southeast Asia: Thailand, Singapore and Bali." [Curbed Hamptons]
