Today, Flo Fab and Grub Street confirm earlier suspicions that chef Joel Dennis has departed his role as executive chef of Alain Ducasse's Adour. This is the restaurant's third executive chef in two years.
PR has yet to confirm his replacement, but insiders say it is Michelin starred chef Didier Elena. For a little more inside gossip about the Adour rearrangements and a potential take over of Gilt at the Palace Hotel, we turn to a tipster:
I heard that last month Adour lost their GM who was there since the Essex House. And this month they are losing their assistant restaurant manager, their exec sous chef, pastry sous chef, and their exec chef. The chef was supposed to be fired a long time ago. Probably after losing their Michelin star. They are waiting on Didier Elana's paper work. So they kept him around I guess.
And the word is that Ducasse is gonna move to the Palace, and take over the Gilt space, because apparently the owner of the Palace owns other hotels in Europe where Ducasse has his restaurants.Gilt, a restaurant with two stars from both Michelin and the Times, has had little buzz of late and was at one point last year rumored to be closing. A takeover wouldn't be a huge shock, but is Ducasse ready to try at yet another venue to impress fickle New Yorkers? So if anyone needs a job, apply to Adour!
