For the tiki aficionados still bummed by the closing of Eletarria—they had a weirdly popular Monday tiki night—please edge closer to the computer screen. Banking that this is more a sustainable movement than quirky fad, two of the owners of Dutch Kills (but not Sasha Petraske) in Long Island city are opening a tiki bar in the East Side Company Bar space deep in the Lower East Side. Mouthing Off reports that the bar will be called Painkiller and it will open in early March: "Since the team is planning to blend 1970s New York culture and 1940s tiki culture, this may just be the best-ever tiki bar. Even the address is cool." The address is cool. And more convenient for the greater cocktail world than the lovely Dutch Kills.
