In the wake of the news earlier today that East Village restaurant Colors would shut its doors to the general public for the months of July and August comes unfortunately similar tidings from Sam Mason's Soho eatery, Tailor. Following up with Tailor management after a reader tip alerted us to the news, we were supplied with this official statement from the restaurant:
While the Tailor Bar will remain open complete with an extended bar food menu, the Tailor Dining Room will be closed to the general public for July and August. During this period Sam Mason and his crew will focus on regorganizing and designing a new and exciting menu for the late summer/ early fall. The dining room will be hosting private dinners and events during the month of July but will be closed for the month of August while they revamp. The news follows the revelation of the restaurant's bankruptcy filing back in May, but, given our enjoyment of Tailor's bar space, the fact that it will remain open through July and August is a glad tiding through these gray clouds. Here's to a serious fall return for the whole operation.
