Welcome to the Tuesday Shutter Report. If you know of any other restaurants that have served their last, please let us know.
1) East Village: A tipster writes in: "Hi! Went to my favorite sushi place and its closed! Ishikura (I think one sign also said Kura Sushi) on the corner of 1st Ave and E 4th St. They had THE best spicy scallop sushi. Very bummed...hopefully its just a renovation." A walk by this morning revealed a papered up storefront with removed signage, and calls to the restaurant have gone unanswered. [ShutterWire]
2) Inwood: Manhattan Times brings the sad news that Bistro Marrakech, "one of Northern Manhattan’s most highly regarded restaurants," will close on July 15. The decision was more out of exhaustion than due to financial problems: "Ultimately, he was worn down by the ceaseless pace of the restaurant routine, working late in the night in the kitchen followed by shopping for ingredients the next day all the while trying to make time for paperwork. Finding good help was also an issue." [MT]
3) FIDi: EV Grieve reports that the John St. location of Zen Palate has closed. The Hell's Kitchen location is still open: "just a coincidence that ZePa in FiDi shuts a few weeks after the NYU Water Street dorm moved out?" [EV Grieve]
