Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one. When Community Board 3's agenda for July revealed that an entity called Motorino was applying for a transfer of the beer and wine license now held by the one and only Una Pizza Napoletana, most observers figured it must have been a mistake. "Perhaps Motorino is Una Pizza's trade name," some wrote in. "Maybe CB3 has it wrong," hoped others.
Reliable sources tell Eater that it is in fact what it looks like. Just as Una Pizza's pizziaolo Anthony Mangieri up and left his successful Point Pleasant, NJ business one day to come to NYC, we hear he's going to up and leave NYC for the West Coast. And that beauty of an oven? Who better to inherit it than the rabidly successful Motorino? Reps for the Williamsburg pizza spot say the deal hasn't been finalized yet and that they don't expect to have news until the end of the month, but more details will be revealed at the CB3 meeting on the 20th.
