Plywood Report Summer BBQ Edition: Fatty Cue

Williamsburg: Earlier today the Dash Feedbag posted the thrilling news that Zak Pelaccionator's newest and longest delayed project Fatty 'Cue would be opening in August, a notion so exciting that an Eater operative hopped on the J train to check it out. Indeed, the space looks to be coming along nicely, and a worker on the scene reported that they're looking to open perhaps even by late July. Ahead, a quick tour of the biggest thing to change the Southside since the shuttering of Pies 'n' Thighs (more on that below).

Interior Details and a Pies 'n' Thighs vital update!>>

With a long bar, three levels and an outdoor patio (!), the restaurant should have plenty of seating. Even with no furniture, one can definitely sense the clash between its southern and Asian influences (which is the big theme of the menu, by the way). For example, the wall behind the bar is wood paneled and the wall in the dining room immediately next to it is covered in what looks to be West Elm's attempt at minimalist Asian art. While there is certainly a bit of work left to do—the patio was too unstable to tour and photograph—Team Fatty's July open date doesn't look out of reach.

Meanwhile, a neighborhood insider sends word that the old violations that have been keeping Pies 'n' Thighs from opening in their new location on South 4th and Driggs for so long have been lifted. One more re-inspection, and they're in the clear. Rejoice!
