Yes, it was only a week ago that we ran a gallery previewing Daniel Boulud's first downtown venture DBGB Kitchen & Bar, but we just can't. get. enough. Last night Team DB invited pretty much every chef in New York and the Manhattan media to test the place out after a City Harvest benefit. The general consensus among the chefs—who mind you were plied with free piggy burgers and beer—was that the place is going to be a hit for the Great DB—or that it better be if the Dinex Group wants to generate the necessary $4.5 million a year to be profitable.
At around 2 a.m., the house lights went up, the crowd (which at one point included Flay, JGV, English, Maccioni, Portale, Freitag, Telepan, Samuelsson, Dufresne plus one pregnant wife, Brennan, May, Carmellini, Liebrandt, and more) shuffled out, and dispersed into cabs headed to the Pig. DBGB will debut to the public on June 8.
