East Village: Matt Hamilton, the chef at the one and a half year-old neighborhood spot Belcourt, is leaving the restaurant for Choice Markets in Brooklyn. East Village vets will remember that Hamilton's gig at Belcourt was a return to the neighborhood after the sad but expected closing of another EVill small timer, Avenue B's Uovo. A letter from Hamilton to friends and contacts:
"Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be leaving Belcourt this month. I will moving over to Brooklyn where I will be the Executive Chef of Choice Markets. It was a pleasure working with everyone during my time at Belcourt and I hope to continue to work with you in this new venture. I will contact you when I get settled. Thanks again."We'll let you know when we get word of Hamilton's replacement and any menu changes at Belcourt.
