Carroll Gardens' latest addition, Buttermilk Channel, opens tonight just a stone's throw away from neighborhood staples Frankies Spuntino and Lucali. But instead of Italian now we have "American bistro" fare here by chef Ryan Angulo (Stanton Social, Picholine). Expect hearty comfort food (fried chicken and waffles, duck meatloaf, steak), specials corresponding to the day (Mon is pork cheek schnitzel), and a spillover crowd from those aforementioned neighborhood favorites. The room holds 60 seats, including that large communal table, and, as is au courant these days, is constructed from reclaimed materials. More reading here and here.
