Fubar wasn't the only business casualty of Saturday's fatal crane collapse. Crave Ceviche Bar (not to be confused with Dave Martin's Crave on 42nd) sits right next to the site of the accident at 51st and 2nd, and Chris Bianchi, one of the four co-owners, was an eye witness to the collapse and the immediate aftermath. The building they just expanded into was hit by the falling crane and its debris, consequently closing off any access to the space. They'll be shuttered until April while they assess the damage. Crave's statement:
"We at Crave Ceviche Bar are deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred in our beloved Midtown East neighborhood over this weekend. Even though our restaurant suffered serious damage, we are hugely grateful that our team working in our kitchen was unharmed. Our hearts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the loved ones who have been tragically affected by this accident. We will be closed for the remainder of the month of this month and look forward to re-opening in April and serving our fellow friends and neighbors."· Near Rubble, Regulars Miss Regular Bar [NYT]
