Though we've had a spattering of shutters this week, all in all, the report doesn't look too bleak today. Check out the latest closures below.
1) Howard Beach: The Water View Diner, an institution in South Queens for over 30 years, shuttered earlier this week: "Heliotis told The Courier Sun that, after several offers by Wharton Realty to buy out the remaining 30 years on the lease, the partners finally accepted. 'Nothing stays forever,' he said." [Queens Courier]
2) Midtown: The Vegetable Garden, a Midtown Kosher spot is closing: "The Vegetable Garden, formerly located at 48 East 41st Street between Madison Avenue & Park Avenue, is now closed. As far as the sign in their window indicates, their lease expired and they plan to "merge" with Bagels and Plus at 243 West 38th Street." [Kosher-NY]
3) West Village: Zagat reports that Caffe Torino, a West Village spot most well known for its garden, bit the dust this week. [Zagat Buzz]
