Momofuku Ko Exposed; To be "Just Like Benihana"

Someone didn't do his homework, and the Ko will have to open beer and wine only

Last night Momofuku Ko went before Manhattan's Community Board 3 to get a full liquor license (beer and wine is already secure) and was shut down due to a lack of paperwork, creating a small roadblock for the soon to open restaurant. What else happened last re: the Ko? Oh just a major Momofuku Ko reveal, involving the "Benihana"-like setup of the restaurant.

To get the full liquor license Momofuku Ko so desperately wants (and we want it to have), of course, its rep had to submit almost-complete detailed plans about the restaurant to the board. Id est, reveal time.

It's going to be just like a Benihana. >>

From our correspondent:

The new online reservation-only establishment, featuring set menus with an emphasis on local ingredients, will only fit fourteen customers and ten employees: the cooks. As the new setup is too small to accommodate a wait-staff, the chefs will cook opposite patrons and serve the food, providing a dining experience one board member described as 'just like Benihana’s.'
Why would the community board stand in the way of Benihana with booze?
"Unfortunately, the JCDC rep on hand –not Dave Chang, as dude's at the Omnivore Food Festival in Deauvilleneglected to bring the petitions required for the license, and so the request was denied until signatures are brought to the full meeting later this month. In other words, expect the grand opening of Ko in approximately two weeks to be sans-alcohol, though a full license will surely be granted soon."
