This is the Eater Index, Eater's meta-ratings system for new restaurants. The number value of the Index for any restaurant equals the average score it has received from up to 10 of the city's best critics, including a blogger and a wild-card reviewer. Scores are divided into three categories: green, for restaurants scoring 61 and above; yellow, for venues scoring between 40 and 60; and red, for those venues whose average score is 39 or less. Scores in gray indicate that less than three reviews on the venue have been filed.

Color: Starting with the positives, Fiamma (63), Park Avenue Autumn (62), BLT Market (63) all make their Index debuts this week and do so in the green at that. Impressive showing. The top dog in the group remains Soto, though it has slipped 5 ticks from an 85 to an 80. The biggest story this time around is the dramatic fall from grace of Centro Vinoteca, which debuted with a 76, then fell to a 70, then 58 and now has, thanks to a spanking by the Bruni, a quite middling 55. Last bit to note, Pamplona improves 11 points, from a 34 to a 45.
