Eater Inside: Back Forty

2007_10_backforty.jpg
Kalina, 10/17/07.

Back Forty officially turns three days old today, having opened Wednesday, following a week of tastings and parties to prep. This restaurant is categorically haute barnyard, to be sure, with press materials promising "a tavern menu of locally-sourced foods and beverages." But the menu (.pdf) is sensible and does not overreach, which, by our estimations is going to keep the place packed for a year. Names to know: Peter Hoffman, Executive Chef, greenmarket fixture, and also the chef at Savoy; Susan Rosenfeld, co-owner/Hoffman wife; Jerry Winter, co-owner.

Relive Back Forty's days of Plywood glory; or read more from the Dish.
