PLYMANIA: Williamsburg Retractable Roof Biergarten

If it's Friday afternoon, it's time for the Plywood Report. And if it's the summer season, when restaurateurs race to get ready for that critical September opening, it's time for PLYMANIA. With thanks to the alert readers all over town who make this feature possible, away we go.

Because we love beer gardens and because we love retractable roofs, let's kick off PLYMANIA this afternoon at a Plywood veteran, the new retractable-roof-beerhall going in at the corner North Third and Berry in Williamsburg. Reports a tipster, who was kind enough to send along a bevvy of photographs, "The beer hall cometh! Right across from Kokies (ya know, The Levee). Some renderings in the window (above) and a few other shots. I'm most fascinated with the retractable roof. It's the guys who have the beer garden in Astoria. Looks like they're going to miss peak beer season '07." Er, can somebody say 'Octoberfest'? By the way, the name, if the renderings in the window are accurate, will be Biergarten. Oh yes.

UPDATE: Emails a tipster, "You got it half-right; the actual name is Radegast Hall & Biergarten." And it's got a website. BOOM.

Ahead: three photographs of the action. >>
