1) Williamsburg: Above, courtesy of Special Eater Correspondent Will Femia, a grade-A example of how not to announce the name of your new restaurant. Reports Femia, "On the bright side, we know that the place on the corner of Lorimer and Nassau on the Greenpoint/Williamsburg edge of McCarren Park that used to be Monsignors is going to be called Lokal. On the not-so-bright side, guys, why did you mess up your brand new restaurant before it even opens with that crap scrawl? Maybe they think it's in keeping with the neighborhood graffiti/street art style? Strangely, the lokalfood.com url on the door doesn't go anywhere." [PLYWOOD]

2) Williamsburg: In stark aesthetic contrast to our first item, another special Eater correspondent sends the above photo, reporting, "Strolling en route to San Loco on North 4th in Williamsburg (btwn bedford and driggs) and came across this place. One of the guys installing told me it is going to be a new bar, but he did not know the name or the deal. It looks like it may open soon, but then again hard to tell from the distance. any news? what's the story and how much watering required? And will that be bottled water or tap?" [PLYWOOD]

3) Clinton Hill: The always excellent Clinton Hill Blog has a bunch of great post-plywood photos (above) from Il Torchio, a new Italian eatery coming to Myrtle between Washington and Waverly. Click through for more snaps and intel. [PLYWOOD]
4) Smith Street/Gowanus: Per the ever-peripatetic Gowanus Lounge, two updates. First, it appears Jesse's Brooklyn Kitchen is closing in on opening. Second, anyone know anything about the new wine bar at Union and Hoyt? [PLYWOOD/POST-PLYWOOD]
5) South Slope: Blogger Food of the Future offers up a bevvy of plywood updates from the neighborhood, including this word: "the guys who run bar toto (6th and 11) are opening up another spot on the corner of 3rd ave. and 9th street. I have passed by this location many times and always been intrigued by the large bay windows across the front. it looks as if they are going to have an outdoor seating area possibly along 9th street. although, personally, that's a tough corner to want to sit on with the traffic and the lovely view of enterprise rent-a-car/ auto body repair shop."
