As different from LoSide as is possible, but no less doomed, we have Alto. This is Scott Conant's less-than-disastrous midtown homage to Northern Italy. If it weren't for the two-star scar Frank Bruni slapped on the venue at the outset, things may have turned out differently here. But, now we're almost 18 months into the experiment and Conant's investors can't be very happy with the thin dinner crowds. There's even a rumor circulating that the venue is up for sale, which, no, does not bode well at all. OVER/UNDER: January
