Chef Jeffrey Teller has left M. Wells Steakhouse and found a new post as chef at The Waverly Inn. Teller, who quietly started just before the July 4th holiday, has already begun to introduce his new dishes. "I left amicably and I'm not trying to turn any other restaurant into M. Wells,'' says the chef, whose resume includes working for Joël Robuchon at the Mansion in Las Vegas, and at Veritas. "Waverly Inn is an institution in New York and I want to honor that. It's based on classic continental dishes that people may have forgotten: I am adding things that I find delicious.'' Among those offerings are lobster Thermidor, steak bordelaise, baba au rhum and chocolate soufflé.
Teller replaces Ashley Merriman, who started working at the restaurant in 2012. No word yet on what she's got planned next.
