Sushi master Hideo Kuribara's omakase bar Ushiwakamaru has succumbed to what appears to be a rent hike. Back in October, a staffer at the former Eater 38 member, said that the restaurant would likely close before the end of the year. Now, the phone line is disconnected and Yelpers are noting a shutter. The restaurant only received one star from the Times, but it was one of the city's more affordable omakase spots, and loved by many sushi purists.
Last fall, owners were looking for a new home, but hadn't found one yet. There's no word on a relocation at this time, but Eater is keeping our ears to the ground for new intel.
