Juicery and healthy fast casual chainlet Organic Avenue is slimming down. The company will layoff 38 of its 112 workers at its Long Island City commissary and change its menu, citing "economics." The company also closed two locations since last August, bringing their number down to 10, according to Crain's NY. Former CEO Martin Bates, who recently left the company, promised last summer that more Midtown and downtown locations would open in 2015, but that now seems unlikely. Jamba Juice also just announced that it will sell cold-pressed juices adding another major competitor to the juice market.
