After Todd English was forced out of Olives at the W Hotel in Union Square last March, reportedly due to his erratic behavior, the celebrity chef and his restaurant were replaced with the lower profile 201 Bar and Restaurant, run by the Gerber Group. But now rumor has it that the hotel is about to change the restaurant once again. Scott Gerber and his company will remain as management, but a new chef and concept will be brought in this spring. No word yet on who that will be, but stay tuned for news very soon. And given the value of real estate around there these days, it wouldn't be unreasonable for the Gerber Group to make some sort of power move.
Update: FloFab reports that the restaurant will be called Irvington. According to representatives, Gerber Group's executive chef, David Nichols is designing the menu, which will be "New American and Mediterranean-influenced." It will include a brick stone oven, a rotisserie, and a chef's table, and source ingredients from the nearby Greenmarket.
