It's not necessarily news that many New York chefs make barely enough to afford to live in the city, but WNYC reports that more have recently started to leave for cheaper pastures in other cities. Peter Hoffman says that where once he had plenty of cooks to choose from, now the applicants to his Back Forty restaurants have dwindled to those "with a few months of experience at places like McDonald's" or none at all.
