The Curse of Florent Persists: R&L Closed for "Renovations"

Meatpacking District: Just last Friday an Eater operative reported that R&L Restaurant sat empty during a prime time lunch walk by. And today we learn the restaurant is shuttered. Closed. Locked up tight. No signs of life.

For those of you just joining us: R&L is the restaurant that rose, zombie like, from the corpse of Florent, the beloved MePa icon. Run by the landlord, the daughter of the man who operated the restaurant pre-Florent, it was shuttered by the DOH just months after reopening, and finally made its grand re-debut in December. Now, a new sad chapter. We'll be keeping an eye on her to see just how extensive these renovations are and what new iteration of a the restaurant will debut once again on 69 Gansevoort St.
